SNS in Living Arts Organizations – Two scientific presentations

flotforblogPart of our research program dedicated to the value of culture for territories, our small team focuses on the use of Social Network Sites by living arts organizations. Last year and this year we conducted exploratory interviews with Public Relation people and collected Facebook data and Tweets. Two scientific presentations of this work in progress are made.

One was in May at the French association of Information Systems (AIM) in Lyon and one is coming end of June at Bogota for the AIMAC conference (the International Conference on Arts & Cultural Management).

From our exploration, we observe that PR people from the cultural area feel the need for both benchmark and landmark concerning the use of SNS in their communication. The data provided by FB tend to be overwhelming (and largely redundant) and not directly manageable for piloting their online communication. Also, as we developed a case study of a one-week event and followed the activity on FB and Twitter, we observed that viral effects are far from being huge and persistent. There is clearly a need for further research and comparison across cultural sectors.

WEB_GroupeOn the 5th of April, our lab organized the first workshop dedicated to Research Methods in Information Systems. This was jointly organized with the French Academic Association in IS (AIM).

Although it was a windy and rainy day, the workshop was full of positive and warm exchanges and discussion with a program of 7 papers to be presented. Most of them adopt a qualitative stance… one can wonder whether it is a French specificity…

Creative playing – Lisbon April 2013

During our COST meeting in Lisbon, Frans Mayra and his team invited us to test a playing cards set that is intended to help and stimulate new ideas related to our COST project “combining print with digital media”.

Recently, Marine tested this creativity game in a French local web agency. An interesting output of it is not only new ideas of products and/or services but also an opportunity to observe group dynamics. We suspect that a repeated use of the hybridex card game can bring the group even further. So… let’s experience !
